At its best, M83's Before The Dawn Heals Us is a serious, majestic blend of symphonic synth rock. The lush orchestra of synth, guitar, rock drums, organ, choir, and solo voice is a unified ensemble throughout the entire work, and the rich production contributes to the grand spacious atmosphere without stealing the focus. After hearing so much studio-only music, the refreshing, unselfconscious production makes this music easy on the ears - even the 'found sounds' add depth instead of coming off like aural challenges or genre obligations. When there is noise, it's melodic noise, and when there's a beat, it's energetic rather than aggressive. It's easy to compare Before The Dawn to Sigur Ros, Blade Runner, The Sea and Cake, and even Telepopmusik; however, the sound seems to grow from an original concept than be any deliberate fusion of influences.
'Before The Dawn Heals Us' is the fantastic follow-up to 2003’s 'Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts', which received huge critical acclaim across the press and led to the commissioning of remixes for the likes of Goldfrapp and Bloc Party. This, their second album, provides a more cohesive, developed and realised interpretation of M83’s epic vision. The album flows beautifully and ranges from full-on sonic assaults to lush, introspective ballads.Fluctuating between skyscraper-high walls of guitars, minimalist psychedelia, celestial keyboards and unnerving theatrical vignettes (“Car Chase Terror”), the tracks on Before The Dawn Heals Us are strange but codependent bedfellows, like the seemingly incongruous pieces of a single cohesive dream.
A dreamy lucious piece of electronica...

Hi there. Cant uncompress any of the files since you started passwording them. I'm using an apple mac - can you check you're making them pc + mac compatible when compressing as its only files from this site I'm having problems with. Cheers :)

Usually there's no problem between such files, even 4 a Mac;maybe the only reason would be that u're using a program that mainly works w/.zip instead of .rar.

hey there cheers for the advice - much appreciated - tried the latest stuffit deluxe you put above (i had an older version), but it still wouldnt open the file - just stops after a second without doing anything after enter the password. However with unrarx it worked fine, no problems - perhaps its the programme you're using to add the password isnt fully compatible with mac/stuffit deluxe? Just in case others have the same problem. Will use rarx for yours in future, keep up the great blog. Cheers again :)
