The underground’s rumour mill has been going into overdrive for the last few weeks, but it’s finally time to set the record straight. After a break of 7 years, Global Underground is to resurrect their legendary ‘nubreed’ compilation series, with rising Brit star Jim Rivers stepping up to the plate for the first album.
‘nubreed 7’ will be released on 30 March 2009 accompanied by a Global World Tour.
The DJ mix series that began in 2000, helped launch the careers of some of modern dance music’s greatest DJs - Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge, Anthony Pappa and Satoshi Tomiie.
Following that illustrious line up, Jim Rivers has gained a worldwide reputation for his glitchy, groovy electronic sound, with an enviable CV notching up frequent dates at clubs like Ministry of Sound, Shindig and Urban Gorilla in the UK, as well as an international schedule that’s seen him return to countless venues across the globe. His production pedigree includes Saved, Bedrock, Global Underground, Mouseville, Four:Twenty, Simple, Renaissance and Saw Recordings, and his own label, Misfit Records.
With the mix 3 months in the making, ‘nubreed 7’ promises to establish new standards for dance compilations and looks set to launch another career into the stratosphere...

MOS Sessions Vol 8.1 mixed by Meat Katie

Title : MOS Sessions Vol 8.1
Genre : Electronic
Style : Techno/Tech-House
Format : 2xCD
Label : Ministry Of Sound
Catalog# : MOSCD172
Release Date : 11/08/2008

Meat Katie, AKA Mark Pember has an enviable CV as both DJ and producer; from his early days recording for legendary labels such as Wall of Sound, R&S and Kingsize to the running of his own impeccable Lot49 imprint through to his incessant touring of the world playing festivals, tours and clubs on every continent – quality is the theme. Everything he does, he does with conviction and passion and it’s that sense of passion that flows out of this mix.
Meat Katie’s ‘Sessions’ comes as a two CD package with CD1 taking a journey into the deep and dirty underbelly of techno and tech-inspired house. Such luminaries as Locodice, Martin Buttrich & Dubfire rub shoulders with contemporaries like Andomat 3000, Worthy & Martin Eyerer to provide a mix with depth and quality that shines from beginning to end. This is an insight into the afterhours mind of Meat Katie, a selection that says as much about his wide ranging love of electronic music as his Dj’ing style. To those who may have misguidedly thought of Meat Katie as a straight up tech breaks Dj, this is a wake up call as the man shows that dance music doesn’t need to live in the pigeon holes it is often saddled with. The effortless flow and movement in this mix conjures up classic Laurent Garnier, Sven Vath or other such genre-defying DJs and demonstrates Meat Katie’s confidence and technical ability alongside his grass roots understanding of what works in the mix.

The first in Kitsuné's new Tabloid DJ mix series, where Kitsuné will be inviting their favourite DJs to tell a story through a personal mix, the mix being seen as the newspaper and the DJs as editor in chief. With this in mind Digitalism's mix is inspired the above news flash. In Isi of Digitalism's own words it's a mix for all those who need a boost for the summer as well as those newbies having / during sex on the beach? while forcing all of them to love each other a bit more because that's what summer and sunshine is all about. The mix is packed full of tracks by their past and present favourite artists and illustrates the wide spectrum of genres that have led to and inspired their sound. Containing the likes of The B52's, The Kills, CSS, Midnight Juggernauts, The Jonzun Crew, Zombie Nation, The Human League, Shadowdancer and Spank Rock it veers from electro to soul to funk to disco and everything in-between and is guaranteed to relax and funk you up in equal measures.
