+Video: Machine Says Yes
Dan and Jon 'Kahuna' grew up together, from listening to records as boyhood friends to becoming the joint brains behind The Big Kahuna Burger club night during London's acid-house scene of the early nineties. They've played along side the likes of David Holmes, Jon Carter and Norman Cook, and have accompanied the Charlatans on three tours.
They now share a stable with Felix Da Housecat on City Rockers, a label which claims to release 'brilliant twisted cosmic pop music' and, at last, they have got around to making an album.
The Machine Says Yes is layered, psychedelic, beat-driven craziness but its gentler moments, featuring Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and ex-Gus Gus singer Hafdis Huldare, are arguably its best, punctured by the acidic disco pogo of "Glitterball", a monster tune, as well as the whole album, fulfilling all the promises of dance music...
If, 18 minutes into this album, you are not ready to proclaim these two London-via-Leeds hedonists the most exciting thing in dance music, the fact is that you have no idea of what electronic music is...
